If you’re planning to open your own restaurant, then you must already know that a lot of planning is required to successfully launch one. There are numerous aspects to operating a restaurant that demands a great deal of attention. One of those areas is FSSAI registration to obtain a food license. Now, your mind must be racing with questions like, “What’s an FSSAI license? Who needs to register for it? What are the benefits you can enjoy? How can you apply for a food license?” We have brought all the answers for you.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)
If you don’t know it already, all food businesses in India must obtain a food license from FSSAI – the legal authority in charge of ensuring food safety and quality. Any food business can obtain the said license depending upon its production size, management style, and range of operations. After registering, you will obtain a 14-digit number that must be printed on your product packages. Such a license assures customers that your products have passed the necessary quality checks.
What’s In It For You
Getting a food license opens a lot of doors for your business. You get to reap the advantages of heightened goodwill and customer support. Let’s take a glance at some of the benefits involved.
Consumer loyalty – When you acquire a food license, it only enhances consumers’ confidence in your business and turns them into your loyal customer base.
Legal benefits – The FSSAI imposes hefty fines on food businesses in cases of non-compliance with required quality levels, food below the standard, misleading information spread through advertisement, and more.
Mark of assurance – Once you obtain the license after passing quality and standard checks, your products can have the FSSAI logo on them. This logo makes you stand out in the market and inevitably leads to customers relying on and choosing your products.

By now, you must be wondering whether your business qualifies for getting a food license. Here are the major business groups which can register with FSSAI.
